PSX loses 46 points to close at 45,684

ISLAMABAD (APP): The KSE 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 46.90 points, with a negative change of 0.10 percent, closing at 45,684.80 points against 45,731.70 points on the last working day.
A total of 145,312,379 shares were traded during the day compared to the trade of 274,577,430 shares the previous day whereas the price of shares stood at Rs4.135 billion against Rs6.756 billion the previous day.
As many as 339 companies transacted shares in the stock market, 135 of them recorded gain and 181 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 23 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were K-Electric Ltd with a volume of 23,646,000 shares and price per share of Rs3.59, WorldCall Telecom with a volume of 17,057,500 and price per share of Rs2.02 and Faysal Bank with volume of 10,139,000 and price per share of Rs27.
Nestle Pakistan witnessed a maximum increase of Rs99.90 per share, closing at Rs5700 whereas the runner up was Premium Tex, the share prices of which climbed up by Rs54.01 to Rs784.
Rafhan Maize witnessed maximum decrease of Rs505 closing at Rs9,900 followed by Allawasaya Tex the share price of which declined by Rs149.20 to close at Rs1840.23
Rupee gains 10 paisas against dollar
Exchange rate of the Pakistan rupee strengthened by 10 paisas against the US dollar in the interbank trading on Wednesday and closed at Rs175.67 against the previous day’s closing of Rs175.77.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of US dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs176.5 and Rs177.9 respectively.
Similarly, the price of the euro was appreciated by 41 paisas and closed at Rs199.84 against the previous day’s closing of Rs199.43.
The Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs1.52, whereas a decrease of 17 paisas was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs238.13 as compared to its last closing of Rs238.30.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal decreased by 03 paisas to close at Rs47.82 and Rs46.81 respectively.
