Radio Therapy services to be started at SKMCH Peshawar

LAHORE: Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Peshawar has completed three successful years of operations, and its phase-II will also be completed in the current month.

In the second phase, radiation bunkers have been constructed and two state-of-the-art linear accelerator machines installed at the newly constructed radiation oncology department at SKMCH&RC Peshawar. Installation of these new linear accelerator machines is a significant step in providing radiation treatment facilities to the poor and needy patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining areas, after which provision of radio therapy services will also be started in the current month.

It is pertinent to mention that, as part of Phase I of the project, the Hospital already has functional Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Rooms, Intensive Care Unit, Chemotherapy, Walk-in Clinic, Emergency Assessment Room, Pathology and Radiology services.

Whereas, as part of phase III, the last phase, construction of new operation rooms will be commencing in the latter half of this year.

SKMCH&RC Peshawar has become a center of hope of thousands for poor and deserving cancer patient not only form Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining arears but also from Afghanistan. Following its tradition of serving poor and deserving patients, SKMCH&RC is providing financial support to more than 75% of patients at the hospital in Peshawar.
