DUSHANBE (TASS): The member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have been invited to the Russian-Belarusian maneuvers “West – 2021”. This is stated in the communiqué following the meeting of the defense ministers of the SCO member states, which took place on Wednesday in Dushanbe.
“Expressing their desire to further develop cooperation between the armed forces, the heads of the defense departments welcomed the invitation of the Russian side to the SCO member states to take part in the joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation West 2021,” the document says.
In addition, the heads of the defense departments at today’s meeting “highly appreciated the actions of the RF Armed Forces to stabilize the situation in Syria and the peacekeeping process in Nagorno-Karabakh.”
The strategic exercises “West – 2021” will be held from 10 to 16 September on the territory of Russia and Belarus. The designated topic is “The use of groupings of troops (forces) in the interests of ensuring the military security of the Union State.”
