Sadiq Sanjrani, Chaudhry Brothers agree for completion of govt tenure

LAHORE: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Saturday met Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as they agreed that the elected government has the right to complete its tenure.
The Senate chairman had arrived in Lahore today to inquire after the health of PML-Q President Ch Shujaat and also to seek help of the Chaudhry brothers against the opposition’s no-confidence motion plan.
Matters related to current political developments, and ongoing development projects in Balochistan were discussed between the Chaudhry brothers and Senate chairman.
Speaking during the meeting, Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the people of Pakistan has given a mandate for five years to the incumbent government. “We will not allow anyone to ruin parliamentary norms,” he said. He said that the consultative process and meetings are part of the political process and any decision would be taken after consultation with the parliamentary party. “The democratic government has every right to complete its tenure,” Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said and added, “Elections should be held on their prescribed time.”
“The PML-Q will make decision after thorough consultation with its parliamentarians.” He pointed out that every democratic government had the right to complete its constitutional tenure as elections were good when they were on their time.
Commenting on the current political situation in the country, he said he was closely observing the changing political atmosphere and added that national interest was dear to him the most. “We want practical steps for providing immediate relief to the public,” he stated. On the occasion, Senate Chairman Sanjrani said that Ch Shujaat was a seasoned politician who would surely find a way in the prevailing difficult situation.
The Senate chairman was accompanied by a delegation during his meeting with the Chaudhrys of Gujrat. Earlier, PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz held talks with Senate Chairman who called on them in Lahore.
Both sides discussed a range of issues including the prevailing political situation in the country, ongoing developments projects in Balochistan and topics of bilateral interest.

The attendees in the meeting included Senator Naseebullah Khan Baazi, Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Senator Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai, Senator Ahmed Khan, Senator Dilawar Khan, Senator Kauda Babar, Provincial Minister Noor Muhammad, Shah Zal. Senator Kamil Ali Agha and Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti were also present.
Sanjrani was accompanied by Senator Naseebullah Khan Bazai, Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Senator Prince Ahmad Umar Ahmadzai, Senator Ahmad Khan, Senator Dilawar Khan, Senator Kahda Babar, Asim Khan Goraya and Shazal. Sanjrani Saturday arrived in Lahore as part of the government’s campaign to foil the opposition’s no-confidence move plan.
It is learnt that the government has sought to strengthen its contacts with its allied parties amid the ongoing political activities in Lahore, and it has sent the Senate chairman to meet the Chaudhry brothers to seek their help against the opposition’s no-confidence move.
