MUMBAI: Biopics have taken over Bollywood these days. Films like Mary Kom based on boxer MC Mary Kom, or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, based on Olympic runner Milkha Singh, have been lapped up by the masses.

Recently, the news of Shahid Kapoor being signed on for the biopic of boxing champion Ngangom Dingko Singh, who won the Gold Medal in boxing at the Bangkok Asian Games in 1998 have begun doing the rounds. The film was supposed to go on floors like back in January but has now been pushed to the second half of 2019. The delay reportedly was caused due to the multiple rewrites of the script.

Now, a report in a leading daily claims that along with acting, Shahid also will be producing the film. Shahid owns the rights to Dingko Singh’s story and he got Raja Krishna Menon to direct it. A source close to the project said, “Now, they have joined hands to produce the film. It will be shot primarily in Manipur, besides Delhi, while an international schedule is also being planned.”

The report further stated that Shahid has spent the last one year with the 1998 Asiad Gold medalist boxer to get a better understanding of his life.
