Social activism key for children suffering from Autism

TOBA TEK SINGH: There is a need to make children suffering from autism socially active, while the role of teachers and parents is very important in this regard. These views were expressed by Principal Government Special Education School Chah Shamoo Wala Kamalia, while speaking at the awareness seminar organized on the occasion of World Autism Day.

It is worthy to mention that teacher Aqsa Afzal interpreted in sign language for hearing impaired students. on this occasion, Teachers Ayesha Riaz, Aasia Rafiq, Abida Parveen, Shareen Kulsoom, Humira Siddiqa Amin, Zahoor Alam, Razzaq Ali and affected hearing students were present. Speech expert, Nauzia Mehmood said that the symptoms of autism appear in children at an early age, which affects children’s language, sociability, friendship, emotions and feelings.

Its intensity can be less or more. Principal Bashir Rabbani further said that social rehabilitation of autistic children is possible with timely diagnosis, awareness, guidance and interpersonal communication training programs. Later, an awareness walk was conducted in which the affected hearing students carried information books related to autism.
