ISLAMABAD: The Advisory Committee of Parliament (ACP), on the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Constitution, met on Thursday to track the progress of preparations for the upcoming celebrations.
The meeting convened under the headship of Senator Mian Raza Rabbani to oversee preparations for the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution, has taken important decisions to finalize the arrangements for the upcoming celebrations. The meeting which held at the Parliament House, discussed various aspects of the upcoming event.
During the meeting, Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar assured the Committee of full support and facilitation from government departments, while former Senator Farhat Ullah Babar emphasized the critical role of media in raising awareness about the celebrations. He also stressed the need for clear directions to be outlined for all government departments to facilitate these preparations.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb informed the Committee that her ministry would take the lead role in executing a robust media campaign, which will begin from March 10, 2023. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness about the significance of the 1973 Constitution and its impact on Pakistan’s socio-political landscape.
MNA Mehnaz Akbar Aziz acknowledged the progress of the committee and suggested the compilation of a booklet on the Constitution for children. Meanwhile, MNA Asiya Azeem suggested that programs should be telecasted frequently on television to create awareness about the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
The Committee, under the leadership of Mian Raza Rabbani, has decided to hold more frequent meetings to ensure the timely completion of preparations for the Golden Jubilee celebrations. The Committee has also delegated tasks related to the event to its members. The Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution is a momentous occasion for Pakistan, and the government is committed to ensuring that the celebrations are a grand success. The efforts of the Advisory Committee and other stakeholders involved in the preparations are expected to make the event a memorable one.
