Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Saturday witnessed the signing of an agreement between The Authority of Karachi Port Trust Pakistan and Abu Dhabi Ports Group, UAE. As said the agreement is a commercial understanding for the Outsourcing of Operations of Bulk and General Cargo Terminal at seven (7) Berths of East Wharf Karachi Port. Prime Minister Kakar expressed his satisfaction with the growth of exchanges, interaction, and cooperation between businesses in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The Kakar’s caretaker government has announced an auction of the Pakistani state-owned entities and a long list of gigantic corporations ranging from the PIA to Pakistan Steel Mills and Pakistan Railway to Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, seaports, and airports all are ready to hire/ purchase consortiums those have shaped into an unbearable burden for the state as well as the nation.
A prestigious signing ceremony of the agreement selling operational rights of Karachi port’s cargo handling was attended by Prime Minister Kakar, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Ambassador of UAE to Pakistan, and other senior officers from both sides. During the ceremony, the difference in dress code and level of confidence of the auctioneers and buyers and the body language were very much obvious and outrightly chanting the hollowness and perversity of our system and the nation as well.
Although, the Pakistani leaders and bureaucrats failed to build and protect their national assets, however, they did not feel any remorse or disgrace over bartering the hard-earned valuables of their nation. The Emaritis will almost use the available infrastructure, the same machinery, and labor to generate profit for their country through whom our people couldn’t do so.
It is nothing else but a lack of sincerity, patriotism, and no devotion to duty and national responsibility that has now become a national brand of ours. Mr Kalar rightly observed that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE are booming while the recent agreement will further strengthen the bilateral ties in the marine and logistic sectors of the two countries.
However, this relationship is not more than an association between the borrower and the lender, between seller and buyer, and a correlation between the needy and the rich. Those nations have built their states, ensured the writ of the law, and prosecuted the culprits, criminals, and crooks without any nepotism, class consciousness, or discrimination. Therefore, they excelled in each field and got distinguished in the comity of the nations. Our leaders and institutions fell victim to personalities, institutional prestige, and tribal ego thus, the national interest was compromised altogether. So, the leaders, institutions, and the public equally face disgrace and humiliation at the moment if one is conscious and feels guilty.
