Trade in terrorism and AfPak ties

Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has urged Afghan authorities to hand over TTP Leadership to Pakistan especially those involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan. According to her, Pakistan has sufficient evidence against them and the state will take stern action against them according to its laws. The spokesperson said the Afghan government should fulfill its obligations and not allow the use of its land against Pakistan.

Terrorism has shaped into a grave challenge for Pakistan, as the ruthless terrorist outfits have launched a fresh terroism offensive against the people and the state of Pakistan. The country has faced significant security challenges, particularly along its western border with Afghanistan as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Erstwhile FATA has been the primary target of terrorist activities over the past months that caused significant human and economic losses to Pakistan. The bilateral relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have suffered an extreme blow, after Pakistan publicly blamed the Taliban leadership for taking lenient actions against TTP miscreants presently camped in its country. The Pakistani authorities also accused Afghanistan of ignoring their concerns by resisting taking effective action against anti-Pakistan elements inside Afghanistan. The foreign ministry has delivered a strong demarche to the Afghan Charge D’Affaires over the recent deadly attack in Dera Ismail Khan. While the government of Pakistan demanded that the Afghan government must denounce this act at the highest level, conduct an investigation into it, and take stern action against those responsible.

The government of Pakistan has once again renewed its calls for Afghan interim rulers not to withhold and take decisive actions against the Pakistan’s proscribed militant outfits amassed in their country, so peace prevails in the region. The courtesy, brotherhood, and good neighborliness are reciprocatory, a two-way traffic, and vice versa. It is high time that the Afghan rulers must review their priorities vis-a-vis terrorism, the TTP, Pakistan, and the interest of the people of Afghanistan. The people and the government of Pakistan are the biggest bidder for regional peace, and prosperity and resolute supporter of cordial bilateral relations with Afghanistan, but all that good neighbourliness will not be at the cost of security and territorial sovereignty of Pakistan. In fact, non interference in each other’s nations, smooth and cooperative ties are in the best interest of both countries. As soon as the leaders across the durand line grasp this reality, it would be better for their nations, and the whole region.
