UoP confers 203 BS graduates degrees

PESHAWAR: University of Peshawar has conferred 203 degrees along with 21 gold medals on Thursday to its BS graduates from session 2011-15& 2012-16 sessions. It’s was second consecutive convocation for BS graduates for four sessions in less than two year times, in order to streamline BS masters MPhil and Phd programs uniform convocation in upcoming October.

The convocation Hall brim with students near and dear ones, and was well decorated to maintain its traditional serenity and aplomb. Addressing the gathering, in his convocation address, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan underscores the need of soft and entrepreneurship skills for today’s students in competitive ever-changing market and corporate culture.

“We are fast developing the incubation centre for innovative and business ideas for start ups at the juncture of economics and Management sciences departments” he said.

The Vice Chancellor added that in the same line, we are developing soft skills of 7th and 8th semester BS graduates through soft and communication skills from past two years. Understanding the importance of internet in our life as an integral life style, University of Peshawar is providing its students, faculty and community WiFi services at 700 points through safe and smart project.

This is the institution that has envisioned both by founder in his visits to Islamia Collegeand idealist Allama Muhammad Iqbal back in 1928 through a resolution in Punjab legislative assembly, there fore its a legacy and an heritage.

“People today’s who are looking only its ballooning pension are missing this point, that’s its our shared responsibility and not a liability” he pointed out.

The Vice Chancellor in his speech also shared new bodies at the fore, like developing career development centre, university alumni association, fund raising office, campus management solution, block chain project, and others to strengthen University as a formidable academic body.

The majority gold medalist students preferred and requested worthy Vice Chancellor to garland medals to their accompanying parents, as a tribute that received huge applause.

The gold medalist students were Momal Ishaq (Economics), Sanya Kiran and Aysha Malik (Environmental Sciences), Maidah Waheed and Uzma Javed (Psychology), Shaista Yousaf and Saddam Hussain (Zoology), Shakeeba, Alia Hassan, Kinza Wafa (B.Ed) Sadia Riaz (Arts & Design), Urooj Sahar (Microbiology), Sheena Urooj (Physics), Tahniyat Elahi (Commerce), Anmol Irfan (Computer Science), Naseem Ahmad (Geomatics), Javid (International Relations), Muhammad Khan (Social Work) Mehran (Geography) Muhammad Tanveer Ahmad (Statistics) and Uzma Rehman (Chemistry).
