10b trees plantation drive kicks off in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: With the motto of “one house one plant” Prime Minister ten billion trees plantation campaign was begun here in guest house lawn, tehsil Landi Kotal on Friday.

In this connection an simple gathering was organized which was attended by additional deputy commissioner, Khyber Jamshed Khan as the chief guest, beside assistant commissioner, Landi Kotal Imran Khan, additional assistant commissioner Shamsul Islam, forester Landi Kotal Falak Naz number of locals, forest officials and administration officials participated in it. The chief guest planted a sapling to formally inaugurate the plantation campaign.

Speaking on the occasion additional deputy commissioner, Khyber Jamshed Khan highlighted the importance of plantation and said plants not only halted natural disaster like floods but it was divine air pollution controlling system and kept the echo system in balance.

“It is the sacred duty of every single person to plant a tree and look after of the saplings after its plantation”, he remarked. He urged the locals to make successful the PM, Imran Khan ten billion drive and asked them not to cut plants for cooking food purpose and assisted the forest department to grow more forest in the mountainous areas of Landi Kotal. He added that 0.260 million saplings’ would be planted across the district in the plantation drive. At the end saplings of mulberry, cedar, pine etc.were distributed among the tribesmen.
