US-North Macedonia conduct bilateral defense consultations

WASHINGTON: The Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia conducted Bilateral Defense Consultations by videoconference on Wednesday to discuss bilateral security cooperation priorities and reaffirm the importance of continued close cooperation to strengthen the NATO Alliance.

Minister of Defense of North Macedonia Radmila Shekerinska opened the dialogue, which was co-chaired by Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper and Ministry of Defense State Secretary Dragan Nikolic.  

 The leaders discussed future opportunities to strengthen regional security through training and exercises; exchanged views on countering the malign influence in the Western Balkans; and shared information on North Macedonia’s progress towards meeting NATO spending and capability targets.
