Veteran actress Asma Abbas’ WhatsApp account hacked

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Pakistani actress Asma Abbas’s WhatsApp account has been hacked.

The matter came to light on Sunday when her sister, veteran actress Bushra Ansari, shared a screenshot on Instagram. The image showed that an individual had used Asma Abbas’s name to request a loan of one million rupees from a man named Ibrahim.

In her post, Bushra Ansari warned followers against trusting such messages.

Separately, Asma Abbas released a video on Instagram, informing the public that messages had been sent from her number to request money.

She urged people to ignore such messages.

Asma Abbas revealed that the breach occurred after she received a phone call regarding the delivery of a parcel. During the call, she was asked to provide a code received via WhatsApp.

She explained that her daughter Zara had sent some items, and she believed the parcel had been delayed due to heavy rain. As soon as she shared the code, her WhatsApp account was compromised.

The senior actress observed that this type of fraud had become increasingly common in Pakistan, where hacked accounts are used to seek money from acquaintances.

She also apologised to her friends and family for any inconvenience caused.

Asma Abbas advised the public to remain cautious of such fraudulent messages and to avoid sharing verification codes or personal information with anyone.
