WB-funded water projects to be initiated in May: Sindh minister

KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani on Thursday said that World Bank-financed water projects would be initiated in different areas of the province in May.

Talking to a World Bank’s delegation, who called on him at his office today, Saeed Ghani said that the people would get potable water through the projects. He said that WB was financing water and sewerage projects in different districts of the province.

Saeed Ghani said that the project would directly benefit the masses and help resolve the potable water issue in the province.

It is pertinent to mention here that the World Bank had proposed $400 million aid to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board for developing water and sewerage services in Karachi.

However, the Sindh government had approved in standard and determined to go move forward with the arrangement.

This arrangement initiated from a meeting on on November 9, when World Bank team directed by senior water resources management specialist Andreas Rohde called on Saeed Ghani, Local Government Minister in his office.
