PESHAWAR: Judicial Magistrate Peshawar Salman Nadir acquitted 140 workers of PTI including Additional General Secretary Irfan Saleem in a case related to blocking roads during a protest. The verdict declared that no evidence found against the accused and ruled that they were peaceful protesters.
The court’s decision stated that the police had failed to present any evidence against the accused, despite naming over 140 PTI leaders and workers in the FIR. The police had alleged that the protesters had blocked roads on January 28, causing difficulties for the public. However, the court found that the police had not recorded any statements from affected citizens, which was a legal requirement. Moreover, the accused were released on bail earlier, and the court’s decision has now acquitted them of all charges.
ASJ convicts murderer: Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Peshawar Liaquat Ali convicted the nephew of a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and senior lawyer Raza Ullah Khan, to death and imposed fine of Rs 500,000 for his murder, on Monday.
