‘6738 Pakistanis are imprisoned in gulf countries’

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Human Rights documents presented in the national assembly session today which narrated that a total of 41232 cases of human rights violations reported from 2016-2019 in country in which the ministry provided legal assistance on 31317 cases and forwarded to the relevant authorities.

The documents added that highest number of cas-es reported from the Punjab province which tally is 23178 adding that 9888 ca-ses reported from the Kh-yber Pukhtunkhwa, 4814 cases reported from Sindh, 264 cases reported from B-aluchistan, 718 cases repor-ted from the merged district of the erstwhile FATA.

The ministry official documents further added that 20 cases of human rights violations reported from Gilgit Baltistan, 200 from AJ&K while more than 2000 cases reported from the country capital Islamabad in three years.

The state minister for Parliamentary affairs tabled the “The draft Salaries and Allowances Amendment Bill 2020, under which 25 business class tickets to be allocated for each lawmaker and for the option of these tickets being used by members’ spouses and children to travel within the country to be available.

The bill further added that the lawmaker could draw money if they didn’t use the tickets. State minister for parliamentary affairs Ali Khan while addressing the NA session added that previously only the parliament members were allowed to use these air tickets but now their family members can also use these tickets. He added that the governments will neither increase the number of air tickets neither other perks nor privileges he noted.

Ministry of Foreign affairs presented the details of overseas Pakistani imprisoned in the gulf countries. The NA session was told that a total of 6738 Pakistanis are imprisoned in gulf countries till this time in which more number of country citizens are imprisoned in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) which number is 3184 till this time.

The session was further briefed that 2765 Pakistanis are imprisoned in the UAE, 99 country citizens are imprisoned in Kuwait, 476 are imprisoned in Oman prisons, 96 imprisoned in Qatar and 118 Pakistanis are imprisoned in Bahrain.

The fake degrees case in engineering field hits the national assembly once again while the Ministry of Science and Technology presented the details of the fake degrees in the national assembly which was raised by the member of the national assembly Nafeesa Inayatullah Khattak on which the session was briefed by the minister for Science and Technology.

They added that around 21 colleges and universities in country were marked illegal while offering degrees in field of engineering. He added that 11 colleges and universities in Punjab were marked illegal for awarding degrees in field of Journalism, 5 universities in Sindh, 1 of Azad Kashmir, 3 in federal capital Islamabad while one university marked illegal and their degrees are fake in Gilgit Baltistan.

Replying a question, Minister for Power Divi-sion Omar Ayub made it clear that no loadshedding is being enforced by LESC.

Andleeb Abbas said the government has decided to establish Pakistan Missions in Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Uganda and Djibo-uti in pursuance of its policy of look Africa and strategic engagements with African countries to enhance exports to the continent.

The House passed 4 b-ills. These include “The Le-gal Aid and Justice Authority Bill, 2020”, “The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Amendment) Bi-ll, 2020”, “The Tax Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 2020” and “The Geographical Indications (Registration and Protection) Bill, 2020”.
