7 more judges test positive to Covid-19 in Lahore

LAHORE: Judiciary has become the latest target of the coronavirus as 7 more judges of district courts tested positive for the Covid-19 in Lahore on Monday.

The seven infected judges belonged to the sessions and civil courts. They have self-isolated themselves in their homes.

The judges who fell prey to the virus are included: Additional Sessions Judges Kashif Qayyum, Hafiz Muhammad Rizwan, Mian Mudassar Umar, Samina Hayat; Judicial Magistrate, Model Town Kuchehry, Haris Munir; Civil Judges Anwar and Saba Qamar.

The Lahore Sessions Judge has asked the staff of all the infected judges to run their corona tests as well. He directed all judges, lawyers and judicial officials to follow the SOPs.

The new wave of corona pandemic is preying hard on the judiciary. As many as 27 judges of the lower judiciary in Islamabad and Lahore and nearly 60 members of the judicial staff were also tested coronavirus positive.

In Lahore, the Omicron-driven fifth wave is becoming ominous as 1320 new cases were reported and three people were succumbed to the virus during past 24 hours.

On Sunday, as many as 15 doctors of Lahore’s Services Hospital were infected by the dreaded virus.

Six doctors of the hospital’s surgical unit, five of the gynecology department and four doctors of the medical ward have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

The infected doctors were self-isolated.
