All set to mark Int’l Labour Day in KP

PESHAWAR (APP): Like elsewhere in the country, the International Labour Day would also be observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday with great enthusiasm.
The day would dawn with special prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The political, religious parties, NGOs, labour and trade unions besides civil society organizations and humans rights activists would taken out rallies and walks to highlight signficance of the day.
Seminars, workshops and symposium would also be held. TV channels, radio stations would air special programs and newspapers to publish special features, columns and articles on International Labour Day.
The political leaders and the province’s leadership reaffirmed their resolve to continue work for the labourer development.
Adviser to Prime Minister for Political, Public Affairs, National Heritage and Culture Engr. Amir Muqam has felicitated the entire labour community on the occasion of Labour Day.
In a statement on the eve of Labour Day, he reiterated the government’s resolve to protect the rights of labour community and to work for their collective wellbeing.
He said that today, we pay tribute to the valiant workers of Pakistan and around the world, and reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of labour.
Engr Amir Muqam said that every year, the first day of May provides us the opportunity to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of workers to the development and prosperity of their nations across the globe.
He assured the workers that the Federal Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was fully committed to taking all measures, in cooperation with the provincial governments, to enhance the welfare of workers and their families as well as to raise their standards of living.
Engr Amir Muqam who is also president Pakistan Muslim League N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said “We understand very well that only a healthy, happy, well-educated workforce will enable Pakistan to attain its full social and economic potential, and this is what we are working towards with complete sincerity of purpose.
Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan said that the dream of development and prosperity cannot be realized without the protection and dignity of the working class.
In message on the eve of Labour Day, he said the role of the working class carried vital importance in national development and prosperity.
“We can achieve development goals only by ensuring the welfare of labourers and and protection of their rights.”
The Chief Minister said that the International Labor Day highlighted the greatness of labourers and their significant role in development. The welfare and protection of workers is one of the main priorities of the caretaker government, he maintained.
He said labourers deserved special attention not only from the government level but also from all the powerful sections of society.
The stronger and more prosperous labourer class would result in a developed and prosperous nation.
The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the working class for their important role in the country’s development and assured that the caretaker provincial government will take all possible measures for their welfare.
