ATC awards 10 years in prison to MQM member

KARACHI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded 10 years prison to member of Mutahhida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for possession of illegal weapons, on Wednesday.

The MQM worker Shakeel alias Banarsi was arrested by Rangers in a raid conducted at MQM headquarter Nine Zero in 2015. The ATC also fined Rs 100,000.

During the raid Shakeel was among the 100 suspects picked up including party leader Amir Khan. The Rangers recovered illegal weapons recovered from Federal B Industrial Area upon identification by the accused, prosecution lawyer said.

Similarly, other cases of recovery of latest automatic weapons from Nine Zero are also ongoing against the activist while he has also been indicted in two murder cases from 2012.
