ATC orders IO to record statement in 9th May case

PESHAWAR: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Peshawar adjourned the hearing of a case against 115 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers till today (Thursday) involved in vandalism after arrest of Imran Khan on 9th May 2023 and to record investigation officer statement, on Wednesday.

The case was registered against the defendants for their involvement in violent protests on May 9, which resulted in damage to public and private property, including the VIP gate of the Bala Hissar Fort.

Four witnesses testified in court yesterday, and their statements were recorded. The investigation officer’s statement will be recorded today. The defendants, including provincial ministers including Meena Khan and MPAs Fazal Elahi along with others are accused of vandalizing property and causing damage to national assets during the protests.

The prosecution alleges that the defendants engaged in violent acts, including damaging the VIP gate of the Bala Hissar Fort, and causing harm to public and private property, including banks and other government and private assets. The police have completed their investigation and submitted a challan in the ATC court, which has started the trial.
