F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has accepted the bail plea of former lawmaker and co-founder of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir in a fraud case registered at Bara Kahu police station in the federal capital.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain on Monday heard the bail petition filed by the former MNA.

While granting him bail, the judge ordered for Mr Wazir’s release against the surety bonds of Rs20,000.

Former lawmaker Ali Wazir and human rights advocate Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir were arrested on August 20 by the Islamabad police ‘for investigation’.

Before their arrest, the duo had attended a public rally of the PTM in the federal capital.

The arrests elicited condemnation by local and international rights organisations, political leaders, and activists on social media.
