After the legislation banning the production of un-dissolvable plastic bags, its manufacturing units have been shifted to tribal districts wherefrom it is supplied to the settled districts. According to local police, in the absence of a clear law they cannot take action against the sellers of plastic bags.
As publicity campaign Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has published advertisement in print media which warns that manufacturing and sale of bio-degradable bags and all other shopping is a cognizable offence under the law liable of punishment in the shape of fine up to Rs. 500, 0000.
If laws and regulations have been codified on the legislation against the production and sale of these bags then their hard copies should made available to the police and local administration.
Moreover, people should be educated through mass awareness campaign against the environmental hazards and ecological damage caused by using and throwing out plastic bags.
