Biden held talks with French Presidents

WASHINGTON DC (RIA Novosti): US and French Presidents Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron have agreed to meet in Europe at the end of October, the White House said.
“The leaders of the two countries have decided to begin a process of in-depth consultations aimed at creating conditions that guarantee trust and propose concrete measures to achieve common goals. They will meet in Europe at the end of October to reach mutual understanding and maintain momentum in this process,” the message says. White House press service released Wednesday.
According to the White House, the leaders agreed that open consultations on issues of strategic interest to France and European partners could improve the situation. Biden has declared his commitment to such actions, according to the White House.
President Biden reaffirmed the strategic importance of engaging France and Europe in the Indo-Pacific, including through the recently published European Union strategy for the Indo-Pacific. The United States also recognizes the importance of a strong and effective European defense that positively contributes to the transatlantic and global security and is a complement to NATO,”- said in the message.
As part of the joint fight against terrorism, the US has pledged to strengthen support for counter-terrorism operations of European states in the Sahel, the White House said.
The White House said that French ambassador recalled from the US will return to Washington next week and begin intensive work with the administration.
According to a statement released by the White House press service, the conversation between Biden and Macron took place on Wednesday. “President Macron has decided that the French ambassador will return to Washington next week. He will begin intensive work with senior US officials,” the statement said.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on September 17 announced the recall of the country’s ambassadors to the United States and Australia for consultations in Paris due to Canberra’s termination of the submarine contract. As noted by the media, France for the first time in history recalls its ambassadors from the United States and Australia.
