Border police seize more than 400 kg of narcotics

KABUL: Afghan border police seized more than 400kg of narcotics during separate actions in Kandahar and Farah provinces, interior ministry said Tuesday.

The border police recovered 356 kg of opium while conducting patrol in the centre of bordering Spin Boldak district of Kandahar, the interior ministry said in a statement. No arrest was made in connection with the narcotics, it said without disclosing if the opium was recovered from a house, vehicle or any other place.

In a separate statement, the interior ministry claimed border police recovered 67 kg of Crystal (methamphetamine) from a fuel supply tanker at a checkpoint near Abu Nasar Farahi Toll Plaza.

It said an Iranian driver of the vehicle identified as Nasar was arrested in connection with narcotics hidden in tyres of the oil tanker.
