Capital swarmed by more than 3000 professional beggars

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital Islamabad in holy month of Ramzan swarmed by more than 3000 professional beggars while the citizen’s complaint on various forums but the city administration failed to make crackdown on these professional beggars the Frontier Post investigation in various locations reveled.

It should be noted here that previously the capital administration make crackdown on the beggars but this time the whole administration are busy in the pandemic of the covid-19.

Bakht bibi hails from Logar Province of Afghanistan and living in Kachi Abadi since 16 years, she visits the F-10 markaz of Islamabad on daily basis along with her 6 children to collect more money and ration. In F-10 markaz Islamabad this time more than 500 professional beggars roaming in which most are children and drug addicts. Bakht bibi is mother of 9 kids and told Frontier Post that her husband is a drug addict that’s why she visit the markaz to collect ration and money for their kids.

“Previously my kids were in home and I came here for begging but now I am a patient of diabetes and not able to walk for the whole day that’s why I brought my kids for begging here and in evening we collected around 2000 rupees as well some ration she added.

The Frontier Post investigation revealed that around 500 beggars roaming in capital but one police official of the F-10 police station told that the beggars numbers are more than 600 and these number increased due to the ramzan because now the beggars brought their kids to collect more  ration as well they do aftar here he added.

In G-9 markaz of Islamabad this time more than 400 beggars gathered on daily basis which consists children, women and mostly transgender and the citizens told that now capital totally in their control and not possible for them to purchase food items due to the beggars disturbance on daily basis.

A citizen of the G-9 sector told Frontier Post that on one side we are facing psychological issues due to the lock down triggered by the covid-19 as well the economic vulnerabilities but on other side irritated by the beggars. He added that now the coronavirus are spreading like wildfire but no one in beggars wear masks and if you didn’t give them money then they approached you which can infect you if they are covid-19 patients.

In G-11 Markaz of Islamabad the number of the beggars are round about 600, in G-10 markaz the number is close to 300, In F-8 Markaz the beggars numbers are around 250 as well in I-8 Markaz the number of beggars are closed to 250 as well other markaz of Islamabad consists same numbers.
