Champions Trophy win to motivate team Pakistan in Wold Cup, says Azhar Ali

NOTTINGHAM (Agencies): Pakistan’s former captain and member of 2017 Champions Trophy winning squad feel that memories of winning the Champions Trophy in England can motivate Pakistan team in the World Cup.

Azhar feels that Pakistan is among the few teams who can always come from behind and turn things around. ‘Pakistan has to get better from here. They haven’t been playing good cricket lately but a good sign for them is that batting has been performing well. Bowling needs to come and end the party and peak at the right time,’ Azhar said.

‘Pakistan is a team that can always make a comeback and we proved it in Champions Trophy 2017, and those memories can be motivating for team Pakistan in these circumstances as well,’ the former captain added.

Replying to a question, Azhar added that Pakistan has always enjoyed good support in England. ‘It is one of the favourite venues for team Pakistan, we have always enjoyed no matter how things are,’ he added. Pakistan will play West Indies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the second match of the World Cup at 2:30 pm (PST) on Friday.

Pakistan played England at this ground in the fourth ODI and scored 340/7, but lost by three wickets.
