CM directs district admin to remain vigilant against price hike ahead of Ramazan

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Paktunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Wednesday directed all district administrations to remain vigilant against price hike of food items 15 days ahead of the start of Ramazan and during the holy month.

He was speaking at review meeting held here at the Chief Minister’s (CM) House and said that the price control concerned departments should take stern action those were involved in artificial price hike and hoarding.

The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also directed that district and tehsil administrations, and police to conduct a crackdown immediately against the use polythene bags and those involved in manufacturing.

The Chief Minister was informed that so far, legal action has been initiated against 80 polythene bag retailers in the province whereas a report on the prices of edible items would be submitted to the Chief Minister on daily basis.

Commenting on the governance in the province, the Chief Minister stated that all out efforts should be made to ensure that the government and state perform as per the desires of people adding that the trend and practice of price hikes in Ramadan should be discouraged strongly.

“We have to establish our governance on the lines on Riasat e Madina as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.” Mehmood Khan.

The Chief Minister was also briefed on the Clean and Green drive being carried out in the province. The Chief Minister was informed that a total of 14 Million saplings have been distributed and planted till March 2019 whereas during the month of April, 150000 saplings have been planted in the province so far.

The meeting was also informed that the Clean and Green drive is also being carried out with great zeal and enthusiasm in the newly merged districts which is evident from the fact that 22,000 saplings have been planted in Waziristan on the first day of the Clean and Green Pakistan drive.

The Chief Minister was also informed that a total of 1253 petrol and CNG stations were inspected out of which 225 stations have been issued show cause notices for not maintaining hygiene of restrooms in addition to imposition of fine amounting to Rs.520000.

The Chief Minister also directed that master plan for every major city in province should be prepared adding that industrial activities should be limited to industrial zones in the province and that no activities, including marble crushing, should be allowed outside the dedicated zones in order to limit the environmental pollution.

In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister also stated that 4 Shelter homes would be inaugurated at regional headquarters during the next 15 days.

Mehmood Khan also directed the law department to expedite work on the drafting of anti-beggary draft bill which would help in stopping influx of beggars from other provinces into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
