CM reviews progress on Kohat Division projects

Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has stated that needs assessment of every district in Kohat Division should be made on priority basis in order to chalk out a Master Plan accordingly including Master Schemes related to supply of clean drinking water. Mahmood Khan added that in the next financial year, royalty funds should be utilized for materializing the Master Plans instead of undertaking small projects of political interest.

The Chief Minister stated that budget allocations for Kohat Division in the next fiscal year will be made as per the needs assessment of every district adding that feasibility study for every Master plan should be conducted in advance.

These views were stated by the Chief Minister while chairing a performance review meeting of Kohat Division Administration. The meeting was also attended by Advisor to CM on Elementary & Secondary Education Ziaullah Bangash, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, Commissioner Kohat and other high ranking office holders.

The meeting was briefed that from Kohat Division, 2357 numbers of complaints have been received via Pakistan Citizen Portal, out of which 2161 complaints have been resolved whereas 196 are in progress. Similarly, 126 Kanals of land has been recovered in Kohat region, during the previous two months, as part of the anti-encroachment drive in the province.

As for revenue collection, the Chief Minister was informed that a total of Rs 1.54 Million revenue has been generated against the set target of Rs 1.58 Million through Land Tax, Agri Income Tax, Local Rate and Usher in District Kohat. Similarly, Rs 673,505 revenue has been generated against the set target of Rs 675,633 in District Karak whereas in District Hangu, Rs 397,926 revenue has been generated against the set target of Rs 394,141 in which case the revenue generation has exceeded the set targets.

The meeting was informed that as per the directives of Chief Minister, inspections of public places have also been carried out during the past two months in which 197 Health Facility centers, 368 Educational facility centers, 154 Patwarkhanas and 78 Developmental Schemes have been inspected in Peshawar region alone during the month of March and April, 2019.

Under the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative, the Chief Minister was informed that 1.42 Million saplings have been planted in April 2019 in Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurran and Orakzai Districts whereas during the previous two months, special cleanliness drives have been conducted in the entire Division.

Under the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative, cleanliness drives have also been launched in Petrol and CNG stations in the province as part of which, 96 stations were checked in April for Hygiene and a fine of Rs 27,000 has been imposed where situation of the hygiene was not satisfactory.

Similar initiatives have also been taken against the use of Polythene Bags in which 8 polythene bag factories have been sealed in District Karak alone along with seizing of available stocks in the remaining districts .

The Chief Minister furthered that yearly schedule for Sports, Culture, and spring festivals should be prepared in advance by the district administration adding that effective measures should be undertaken at every level so as to ensure sustainable peace which has been achieved after hefty sacrifices.

While addressing the meeting, Mahmood Khan stated the performance review of all commissioners in the province are being held periodically, adding that trend analysis of performances will not only help in improving of services delivery but will also provide valuable information to the government for investigating progress on various issues and directives of the provincial government.
