PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan presided over a high level meeting to discuss multi sectoral developmental strategy for the newly merged districts of the erstwhile FATA at his office in Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar.
The meeting focused on different developmental schemes in education, health, sports, tourism, local government, energy etc sectors and made a number of decisions for accelerated mainstreaming of newly opened areas and the welfare of the people of their areas.
The meeting directed for the re-deployment of doctors within the available doctors in the province, recruiting fresh doctors and medical and auxiliary staff for the seven new District Head Quarters Hospital of the erstwhile FATA and the provision of healthcare and medicines on emergency basis. The meeting decided to give attractive packages to the doctors to be recruited and deployed in the newly merged districts. The meeting further directed all the departments to prepare their plan for meeting the futuristic needs of these areas. The meeting asked the departments to prepare a comprehensive design of facilities and process of implementation.
The Chief Minister directed that the government would go whole hog to fully operationalized hospitals, educational institutions and other departments of public service. All developmental and welfare activities should be undertaken under the timeline and another meeting within two weeks would review the pace of progress on different schemes in the merged districts. We have to give relief to the people and therefore the developmental roadmap would pave the way for the much needed development and public welfare of the erstwhile FATA.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding ADP of newly merged districts at CM Secretariat Peshawar. Provincial Ministers Muhammad Atif Khan, Shahram Khan Tarakai, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Hisham Inamullah, Akbar Ayub, Sultan Muhammad Khan, Special Assistant to CM on education Ziaullah Bangash, Chief Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Inspector General Police Salahuddin Mehsud, Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative secretaries and others attended.
Mahmood Khan directed to sketch out a plan for the conduction of local government elections as per constitution and law of the land in order to empower the people at grass root level and resolve their problems through the local government system. The local government system supported by the developmental strategy would revive and reconstruct the utility services and bring the institutions to the optimum utilization for the public service.
The Chief Minister directed to recruit doctors, teachers and other required staff in the health and education institutions under contractual arrangements and assured the government would give relaxation for the accelerated and efficient service delivery and mainstreaming of the seven new districts. He also directed for the data collection of need and requirements and the facilities already available in these areas in order to plan and execute the next phase of development in these areas. He also directed to immediately recruit doctors and other staff in the seven District Head Quarter Hospitals of newly merged seven districts and arrange resources for the procurement of medicines etc. He also directed all the departments to undertake the recruitment process and get approval for the fresh posts and assured his government would give relaxation in age, education qualification where necessary. Each department should give a separate plan as the government wanted to give relief to the people of new merged district in all sectors. The Chief Minister said that the government would work out a transparent mechanism for efficient utilization of resources for the expeditious mainstreaming of tribal areas and giving relief to people of these areas.
Mahmood Khan asked the heads of all departments to plan network of universities, colleges and schools so that these projects could be pushed into the implementation phase. He assured to give a quality governance system to the tribal areas where decision would be made on merit. The meeting was informed about the working of the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) to the erstwhile FATA and staffing of the unit would be completed within two weeks. The meeting decided to recruit the youth of the tribal areas against the sanctioned and newly created posts in the seven new districts and the launch of sports and culture activities soon. The sports activities would be initiated from February 10., 2019 in all newly merged districts. The meeting also decided to initiate cultural and archeological activities in the new seven districts. The meeting decided to extend the roadmap of creating sporting facilities at Tehsil level in the newly merged districts.
The meeting decided to provide Rs. one billion for the self employment scheme for the youth of the erstwhile FATA. 2500 posts have been advertised for fresh requirement in education sector and different scholarships were being introduced there. The meeting held out assurance to repair and renovate the Higher Secondary schools in the newly merged districts. Account four has been created for the new areas where municipality services were being introduced. The meeting agreed to the solarization of mosques, worship places of minority and healthcare institutions and stress for immediate implementation.
The Chief Minister also directed to introduce Mobile Healthcare facilities in the remote areas of the newly merged districts. He should be constantly informed of the implementation process. The meeting stressed the need for the creation of more than 16 Thousand new vacancies in different sectors of the newly merged areas. The Chief Minister directed that the entire task should be completed within three months. The Chief Minister constituted a committee to be headed by Chief Secretary with IG and other members for the recruitment and deployment of police and other officials in the newly merged districts.
