Division of subsidized flour on political grounds: PHC directs KP govt to submit reply

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice and Justice Ijaz Anwar ordered Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit reply in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding division subsidized flour, on Tuesday.

PIL was filed by Ibrar-ul-Haq Advocate stated provision of subsidized flour started to provide flour to deprived segment on low price due to shortage which has shoot-up prices in the country.

The PIL argued that earlier subsidized flour will available with local dealer but now it is distributing at the Hujras of Members National and Provincial Assemblies along with elected Nazims of Local Governments which leading to deprivation of poor people from the facilities.

Advocate Ibrar-ul-Haq argued that according policy it is neither stated that flour shall be provided by trucks but government will provide flour to local dealers for sell among the consumers.

The distribution of subsidized flour on political basis has created havoc in which several consumers were got injures while requested to reinstate old policy for provision of subsidized flour to local dealers.

The divisional bench has ordered provincial government to submit while Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid observed that increase in flour prices created worries for deprived segments across the country.
