ECP stops JUI-F from holding rallies in DI Khan

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday barred Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) from holding public rallies meeting in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) on Feb 5 and 7th.

DI Khan District Election Commissioner wrote a letter to District Returning Officer (DRO) and District Police Officer (DPO) in this regard. JUI-F wants to hold a rally for its candidate Muhammad Kafil Nizami. As per the letter, no meeting or rally should be allowed in the constituency on such dates.

Earlier in the day, ECP Dera Ismael Khan issued a notice to Maulana Ziaur Rehman, a civil servant and brother of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to explain why his picture was printed on the material used in electioneering in the recently held local bodies’ polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
