Education officials referred to AGO on graft charges

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The director of education for central Parwan province and three of his subordinates have been referred to the Attorney General Office (AGO) for involvement in corruption and misuse of authority.

Without elaborating, Governor Fazluddin Ayyar said the education director had been introduced to AGO by detective organs in connection with “contracts, office issues and problems with teachers.”

The governor acknowledged challenges in the education department, saying the report of detective organs was based on the challenges. However, he did not identify the issues.

A credible source in the Education Department, meanwhile, confirmed the arrest of Hakim and his finance, procurement and human resource managers and their referral to AGO.

However, the education director called his referral to AGO a conspiracy against him.

He said obtaining privileges including overtime during the quarantine period, fuel and stationery contracts as reasons for their arrest.

The contracts were approved by the governor’s house and then terminated.

Pajhwok contacted the Parwan appellant prosecutor office, but the officials concerned said commenting on the issue would be premature.
