Energy crisis and national unity

Recently, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has urged people to opt for renewable sources of energy, especially solar, as these provide uninterrupted and inexpensive electricity and will help in reducing the burden of inflation on the masses. The senior officials from the energy department briefed the governor that 55 megawatts of solar power supply projects are underway in the province.

While the government aims to shift more than 1,000 government schools, and 3,000 mosques in all the tribal districts of Kurram, Mohmand, Bajaur, North and South Waziristan, Khyber, and Orakzai are being transferred to solar energy under the solar energy projects.

The nation’s solarization is a countrywide campaign of the coalition government that had been revitalized by the incumbent rulers after the colossal energy imports bill exceeded $ 27 billion per annum. The federal government has inaugurated multiple solar energy projects and announced the conversion of agricultural tube wells and government buildings to solar energy to reduce energy bills.

Historically, Pakistani political groups had always upheld their party legacies and never sit together in the greater interest of the public. Previously, the PTI government initiated the Sehat Card Plus scheme to provide free of cost health treatment to the public and this project had been implemented in the PTI-ruled regions including KP, Punjab, and Balochistan, while Sindh was not part of the scheme because the PPP-led provincial government did not participate in the project. Presently, the coalition government set the stage for the solarization of the country so, the warring PTI-led government in KP and Punjab were part of the initiative while both governors oversee the solar projects in their respective territories.

In fact, after assuming public office, a leader represents his constituency, province, and the entire nation at certain forums, so the public representatives must uphold their official obligations instead of party policy when attain powers. The leaders preference must be the national cause, public welfare and a collective instead of disagreement and division on political grounds so the nation moves foward. After all, a political consensus and charter of democracy are of utmost importance for, democracy, national development and growth.
