Government schools to get furniture: DC

LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Bakhtiar has said that all public sector schools will get furniture worth Rs 90 million before the commencement of new academic session next year.

This he said while speaking at the teacher talent award distribution ceremony at the district headquarters complex Tajazai on Tuesday. Other speakers included district education officer Abdus Salam and headmaster Haji Abdul Qayyum.

Among others acting District Nazim Haji Arab Khan, District councilor advocate Iqbal Hussain, Tank DEO Bakhtullah Shah, DMO Amjad Meraj, DDEO Hamidullah Jan, DO Finance Khalid Mehmood and headmasters union president Saifur Rehman were also present.

DC distributed appreciation certificates among the heads and teachers of eleven high and higher secondary schools. The heads also received Rs 100000 each while seven teachers from each school get Rs 50000 each under teacher talent award incentive programme of provincial government.

Bakhtiar said that a huge chunk of funds under conditional grant had been provided to the parent teacher councils for availability of missing facilities at the schools. He directed schools’ bosses to ensure transparent utilization of funds on genuine needs of students.

He reiterated that the district administration would ensure provision of quality and standard furniture both for students and teachers to government run schools. He said that winning teacher talent awards by heads and teachers of government run schools was enough to shut the mouths of those who always criticized public sector schools for poor performance.

“During surprise inspection visits to around 90 percent schools I found teachers present and engaged in teaching activities”, he maintained, adding that attendance of teachers produced shining results in examinations held under educational boards and improved performance of education department. The deputy commissioner called upon the teachers to make their students good human beings by building their character and imparting them quality education. He also urged the teachers to promote tolerance and eradicate social evils and menaces including interest on loans from society.

“The teachers should teach their students tolerance, harmony and patience and peace”, he added, saying that rewards and encouragement will help further improve the performance of teachers and officers of public sector schools.
