Haji Ghulam Ali appointed as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor

ISLAMABAD: Haji Ghulam Ali, a JUI nominee and a close aide of PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has been appointed as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday gave approval to the appointment of the new KP governor under Article 101 of the Constitution on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier, the federal government has sent a summary to President Arif Alvi to appoint JUI nominee Haji Ghulam Ali as governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

After a long political wrangling, the federal government on Wednesday forwarded the summary to the Presidency for appointment of JUI nominee and former senator Ghulam Ali on the gubernatorial post of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Ghulam Ali has also served as district nazim of Peshawar. Now his son Zubair Ali is mayor of Peshawar.

It is reported that Ghulam Ali is a close relative of JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

His appointment will be welcomed in the political and social circles. The trading community would also hail his appointment.
