Is Islamabad becoming hunting ground for armed robberies?

ISLAMABAD: The twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad touched alarming level of insecurity among citizens as house robberies, vehicles theft, mobile and cash snatching surged in past one week in both cities but poor monitoring system as CCTV cameras in both cities are not functional to trace the perpetrators involved.

The Frontier Post access the crime data of Islamabad and Rawalpindi police and talked to the citizens of both cities regarding the rising insecurity among the citizens due to surge in crimes.

According to the data of Islamabad police on past Sunday a resident Shafiullah of Abapara area of G-6 sector house was robbed by unknown robbers at 8:30 pm and the robber’s looted jewelry, cash and other items from the house while family members made hostage on gun point.

Another accident happened in the premises of Banigala Police station where armed persons attacked on Nasir Mahmood a resident of Mohra and illegally grabbed their plot.

It’s pertained to mentioned here that in the premises of Karachi Company (G-9) police station cases of robberies, snatching of gold ornaments, mobile and cash reported in high number according to a police official of the Karachi company police station. He added that a 60-years old lady was on routine visit to the market for buying kitchen items wearing gold bracelets, but when she reached to the gate of her house armed men approached toward her and with help of a cutter they snatched the bracelets from the women.

The police official added that on broad day light the armed robbers mugged more than 3 citizens in a single day and snatched their mobiles while a house in G-9/3 was burgled by armed robbers and the women was made hostage in washroom resulting mugging cash and gold ornaments adding that the CCTV cameras are mostly not functional in capital to trace the robbers he mentioned.

A government official while busy in jogging on Margala road told Frontier Post that in this week one of my friend houses was robbed as well unknown dacoits snatched mobile from a family members in second quarter of ramzan that’s why I am not carrying cash in my pocket not picked a mobile fearing that someone will robbed me. He mentioned that insecurity among citizens is increasing even in federal capital considering a safe city in country.

The police diary of Islamabad mentioned that a resident of Kiyani Town (in premises of Koral police station) Tabbasum Kiyani house was robbed by unknown dacoits and theft a car and jewelry of around 2.8 million worth.

Rawalpindi also reported surged in mobile and cash snatching, vehicle thefts as well house burgling in this week The Frontier Post analyze the data of police and talked to police officials.

A resident of Rawalpindi Sulaiman Ahsan was on way to his home after withdrawing a cash of 105,000 from bank, two motorcyclists in Chistiabad area snatched the cash and mobile phone from him on gunpoint and fled.  Muddasir Hussain and Ikramullah were robbed on gunpoint in commercial market and Siddique Chowk by armed motorcyclist and snatched their mobile phones.

The information further added that unknown motorcyclist snatched the handbag of Dr: Bushra Siddique after parking car in Muslim Town carrying six thousand cash, keys of my car and a mobile phone. In Alaaabad area of the Westridge police station Irfanullah were in their shop when two motorcyclists snatched ten thousand cash and a mobile phone on gunpoint from them and fled as well three other accidents of mobile phone and cash snatching occurred on gun point in the premises of same police station.

According to the details three cases of mobile phone and cash snatching, and robbing of gold ornaments on gun points occurred in Racecourse police station’s premises.
