BANNU: The Janikhel tribe of Bannu on Monday ended their protest march after holding a successful negotiation with Khyber Pakthunkhwa government and announced to disperse peacefully.
Janikhel tribe elders and relatives of victims announced ending of their protest march and sit in after holding of successful negotiation with KP government team comprising Provincial Ministers, Shah Muhammad, Ziaullah Bangash, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education, Kamran Bangash, Commissioner Bannu Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, Deputy Commissioner and other senior official of the district administration.
The agreement was signed following a successful visit of Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa Mahmood Khan to Bannu where he played a key role in convincing Janikhel tribe to end their protest march. According to Kamran Bangash, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education, the agreement was made possible after accepting demands of Janikhel peace jirga by KP Chief Minister.
He said the break-through was made during negotiation between CM KP and Janikhel Jirga at early morning 4:15am today. Following successful negotiation, he said, Janikhel tribesmen ended their protest march and all participants in the sit in were directed to return their homes.
As per the agreement, the government would ensure restoration of complete peace in Janikhel area and no house would be demolished during measures aimed at restoration of peace in the area. The government would complete scrutiny and review details of all arrested people in three months on priority basis and people found innocent would be released immediately.
Similarly, Shuhada package (martyrs) would be announced for heirs of four slain boys besides special development package for speedy uplift of Janikhel area. Janikhel tribesmen and others protestors, who were arrested during protest on March 28, would be released immediately and a transparent inquiry would be conducted into killing of four victims to bring the culprits to justice. It may be recalled that Janikhel tribes had staged a sit-in outside the Janikhel police station against the killing of four teenage boys last week and later announced a protest march to Islamabad.
