JI demands fresh polls in country after electoral reforms

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Tuesday said the country was mortgaged to the international financial institutions by all the three largest parties; the PTI, PML-N and PPP which were responsible for the current unrest and instability. Speaking at a news conference at the Ahya ul Uloom Balambat here on Tuesday the JI chief said the country faced numerous dangers because of the previous and present rulers.

He said the rulers had indebted the country with $ 53000 billion so far while the masses had not been provided with adequate facilities. He said the PTI had been in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PML-N in Punjab and center and the PPP in Sindh. “It is the JI only that is playing the role of opposition in the country,” Siraj said.

The JI chief said that his party had planned to announce its future course of action during its executive council meeting to be held at Mansoora Lahore on June 3rd. He said the JI would bring people on the roads if the government presented a financial bill on the IMF dictates. He said the present rulers like the previous ones were unable to run affairs of the state. He said the government should announce fresh polls after the introduction of electoral reforms. He also demanded that the federal government announce an interest-free budget.

The JI chief alleged the government economical system was being run on the IMF dictation. He said the PTI and the PDM had focused on their rallies while they had nothing to do with the masses who had suffered hard during the last four years. He said the rulers were using the country’s resources and accumulated wealth.

He said that inflation, unemployment, lawlessness and corruption had increased many folds.

About the missing persons, the JI chief said the decision of the Islamabad High Court was appreciable. Regarding the PTI second proposed long March, he said the Supreme Court should not accept any pressure and should decide on merit.

He said the JI would never let the government recognize the Israeli state and would resist any such move. Former district nazim Muhammad rasool Khan, former MPA Saeed Gul, district general secretary Arshad Zaman, former tehsil nazim Riaz Muhammad and other party activists were present on the occasion.
