PESHAWAR: Amid political chaos in the country, the Jamaat-e-Islami,s leadership on Sunday carried out its long march towards Islamabad to develop pressure on federal government for merging FATA into Khyber Pakhtunk-hwa and abrogate Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR).

Earlier, the Jamaat-e-Islami,s leadership had announced that it will hold a long march on 10th December for compelling central government to merge tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was also clarified that long march will set off from Bab-e-Khyber Khyber Agency and would end in federal capital.

However, the long march reached to Jameel Chowk Ring Road Peshawar in which a great number of party’s activists, provincial leaders, tribesmen and parliamentarian from tribal areas participated. Holding placards, banners and party’s flags inscribed with slogans in favor of merger of tribal regions into KP.

The marchers will stay at Jamaat-e-Islami,s  provincial headquarter Almarkaz-e-Islami and would set off to Islamabad Today on Monday. Earlier, the PTI, ANP, PPP, QWP and parliamentarians from FATA had backed the merger of tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Former parliamentary leader of FATA legislators, Shahji Gul Afridi, Member National Assembly (MNA) and JI parliamentary leader in national assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah, Jamaat e Islami FATA Ameer Sardar Khan were also in attendance.

While heading the marchers, Jamaat e Islami Provincial Ameer Mushtaq Ahmad Khan who spoke on the occasion said that FATA is incomplete without Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that the British-made Frontier Crimes Regulations will be repealed in the light of long march. He clearly said the today’s rulers will have to abrogate the FCR, a black law and bring FATA into the mainstream.

He claimed that the black law imposed in FATA is hub of all evils and in presence of it, nobody has enjoyed all judicial, legal, political, constitutional and financial rights. Though, this is the accurate time for abrogation of FCR and merging FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.

Sahibzada Tariqullah MNA of JI, in his address said that FATA reforms will be implemented in near future and that the area like Malakand division would rapidly make development.

He asked why central government was delaying the process despite the fact that tribesmen were willing to come to mainstream.

Alhaj Shahji Gul Afridi in his address said the tribesmen are demanding for equal rights enshrined in constitution of Pakistan so that sense of deprivations could end anymore. “Nobody was ready to agitate against FCR but they stood like rock to snatch rights for tribesmen” he claimed.

Regarding Chief of JUI-F, he clearly said he (Fazal) is involved in billions of corruption as Chairman of Kashmir Committee. Predicting about future of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PKMAP Chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, he remarked that their coming time is in dark and would politically sink. It is worth mentioning here that federal government has decided to table bill in National Assembly today on Monday for approval pertaining to reforms in FATA.
