KABUL: Chinese Ambassador Liu Jinsong has held a meeting with Salaam Rahimi, Chief of Staff of presidential office, and briefed him about his government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang to the second session of the 13th National People’s Congress in Beijing, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Liu also reviewed what the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had said to the press on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People’s Congress. Rahimi congratulated Liu on the opening of the “two sessions” in China.

Rahimi said that he valued Premier Li’s report and praised China’s development proposal, foreign policies, and attitude towards Afghan issues. He regarded Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s words “There is no vacuum in Afghanistan that needs to be filled, because the land belongs to the people of Afghanistan” as a resounding expression of the feelings of the Afghan people.

The presidential chief of staff said that Afghanistan sincerely hoped China will continue to make positive impacts on the Afghan peace and reconciliation process. Liu and Rahimi also discussed bilateral cooperation issues. (Pajhwok)
