Khawaja Asif: Imran Khan was not arrested by Army or Rangers

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif clarified that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is making false accusations against the Pak Army, factually the army had absolutely no role in his arrest.

The defence minister talked to the journalists after his address in Parliament in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Khawaja Asif also clarified that the Rangers only helped the police in the arrest of Imran Khan. He said that Imran Khan is now presenting an explanation for the attack on military installations.

The Defense Minister said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan is looking for justification and excuses for inciting people and attacks.

He said that the consultation and discussion with the allies regarding the ban on PTI has not yet started. He added that if there is an urgent need to impose a ban on the PTI, the allies will be consulted. However, the Defense Minister did not rule out the option of imposing a ban on the PTI.

Kh Asif further said that the PTI should also form an alternative committee along with forming a negotiation committee because, in case of leaving the party from the negotiation committee, there should be an alternative arrangement for talks.

Talking about Nawaz Sharif’s return home, the Defense Minister said that his party’s supremo will definitely come to Pakistan.
