PESHAWAR: The PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has stepped back from its earlier announcement of not presenting the provincial budget and decided to present the budget for upcoming fiscal year.
The session of the provincial assembly for the purpose of presenting budget has also been called on May 14, next.
Official sources said that Chief Minister KP, Pervez Khattak has taken the PTI and Opposition MPAs into confidence while the budget documents have been given final shape.
Spokesman for CM KP, Shaukat Yousafzai while talking to media here on Tuesday said that PA session has been called for discussion on next budget as according to him the government and opposition wanted to discuss development works being carried out in the province.
He said the Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak has also informed Chairman PTI, Imran Khan regarding budget presentation who had earlier barred the KP government from presenting the same.
CM KP has also tasked Speaker KP Assembly, Asad Qaiser for contacting opposition members before initiation of assembly session.
On April 15 last the CM KP had announced not to present budget 2018-19 as he said it was the right of next KP government to present the budget.
It is worth to mention that PTI chief Imran Khan had himself opposed presenting of budget by the federal government saying a government having only 45 days remaining in power cannot present the budget and we will go against it.
