KP obtains 19 PTDC’s assets on provision of Rs594 million: PHC told

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has provided Rs594 million to federation while Pakistan Tour Development Corporation (PDTC) hand over 19 assets in the province to Culture and Tourism Authority while renovation on seven sites will be initiated soon.

This was disclosed by Additional Secretary Sports and Culture Muhammad Shoaib before divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Abdul Shakoor during hearing of cases regarding arrears of PTDC’s employees, on Tuesday.

During hearing Additional Advocate General Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah along with Culture and Tourism Authority (CTA) lawyer Farman Khattak Advocate appeared before PHC. Chief Justice inquired from Additional Secretary regarding PHC’s directions for provision of PDTC’s employee arrears along with protection billions of rupee assets.

The Additional Secretary Muhammad Shoaib informed that provincial government has provided Rs594 million to federation for arrears and endowment fund for PDTC’s employees while obtained control 19 assets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that work has initiated on seven PDTC’s assets/ building needs minor rehabilitation while Rs70 million released in this regard.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice ordered to ensure transparency and to share name firm evaluating market value of PTDC’s asset while additional secretary Muhammad Shoaib assured that report will be submitted on firm before PHC and added that transparency was ensured awarding the project.

Additional Secretary further informed that Sport and Culture Authority Board of Governors had approved it while Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chairs the authority and provincial cabinet also approved the project. He added that PTDC’s motels at Boni, Bamboriat, Bisham, Miandam, Kalam Swat shall be rehabilitated in its original position immediately to outsource for revenue.

Moreover, Chief Justice directed to ensure merit and transparency at every stage and ordered to submit report before PHC in this regard while adjourned further hearing till date to be fix.
