LAHORE (INP): The capital of Punjab Lahore has again become number one in air pollution as the air quality index of the city has reached 444.
According to media reports, the Punjab Transport Inspector, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, said that a meeting of the cabinet’s smog committee will be held on Wednesday to discuss the issue of work from home and online schools.
He said that the committee may consider work from home and online school for one to two days this week.
Murad also said that the pollution coming from India is also affecting Lahore and other cities.
The average air quality index of Lahore city was recorded as 397, while AQI was recorded as 444 in Amir Town and 394 around Mall Road.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is no chance of rain in the city during the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature in the provincial capital may reach 13 and maximum 26 degrees Celsius.
The Lahore High Court also ordered work from home for two days in a week on Monday in view of the smog situation. Justice Shahid Karim ordered that all schools and colleges should be closed on Saturday, also issuing contempt of court notices to the officers.
