Man burns himself to death outside of PM secretariat

ISLAMABAD: On Friday a resident of the Muree Faisal set himself on fire outside Prime Minister Secretariat prior to the Friday congregation the video of his screaming from burning went viral on social media.

According to the details Faisal s/o Fazal was a resident of Dewal Sharif  Muree and was an alleged proclaimed offender in an alleged rape case of a three years old girl according to an FIR logged against him in September last year.

An eye witness told Frontier Post that the deceased after setting himself on fire was screaming from burning injuries but the rescue teams arrived around 12 minutes and till that time he was seriously burnt. He added that no one on the spot attempted to rescue him and the commuters were busy in making videos on his mobile for more than 10 minutes which later goes viral on social media.

An official of the rescue team told this scribe that when the deceased ablaze himself outside PM secretariat the rescue team and police arrived on the spot in less than ten minutes and rescued the deceased and shifted him to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) burn center where he succumbed to his injuries and lost his life as 90 percent of his body was burnt from fire.

Surprisingly entry into the red zone is strictly prohibited in the outbreak of the corona virus as all ministries including parliamentary affairs are suspended since two weeks but the deceased in a mysterious move reached to the PM Secretariat.

A letter recovered from his pocket according to the district administration in written to the Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioning that he is a vocal supporter of the incumbent government and voted to the party of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf but still he is a victim of police victimization the letter available with Frontier Post added.

In letter he mentioned that police logged a fake FIR against him in liquor case that 20 bottles of different liquor recovered from him which has no ground reality the deceased mentioned in his letter.

According to his family version he visited PM secretariat repeatedly regarding his grievances against Punjab police but he was not listened anywhere resulting losing his life.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat  in a voice message forwarded to journalists mentioned that the deceased was not only a drug addict as well having mental health issues. He added that the deceased was a proclaimed offender according to police, adding that he complained against Rawalpindi police behavior. 

DC added that a judicial inquiry has been formed to investigate the case which will prepare a report in 48 hours.
