May 31st car bombing in Kabul city instigated by Iran

KABUL: The Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said Iran instigated the May 31st car bombing in Kabul city.

Speaking to reporters in Washington, Pompeo talked about a series of attacks which took place from 22nd of April to 14th of June in strait of Hormuz, Baghdad and Kabul.

He said “On May 31st, a car bomb in Afghanistan wounded four US service members, killed four Afghan civilians, and wounded bystanders.”

Pompeo further added “Taken as a whole, these unprovoked attacks present a clear threat to international peace and security, a blatant assault on the freedom of navigation, and an unacceptable campaign of escalating tension by Iran.”

He also added that Iran should meet diplomacy with diplomacy, not with terror, bloodshed, and extortion.

Meanwhile, Secretary Pompeo said “The United States will defend its forces, interests, and stand with our partners and allies to safeguard global commerce and regional stability. And we call upon all nations threatened by Iran’s provocative acts to join us in that endeavor.” (Khaama Press)
