Merit violation alleged in Khyber Medical University

PESHAWAR: The administration of Khyber Medical University (KMU) has been accused of violating merit after a student despite qualify the ETEA test has been deprived of admission in Bolan Medical College Quetta.

Awais Afridi of Khyber Agency has asked Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Justice of Pakistan and Peshawar High Court to take notice of irregularities along with action against relevant officials. I was on 15th at merit list out of 17 seats but right now some alleged officials have created hurdles for him to acquire admission, he divulged.

Flanked by his brother Haseebur Rehman, an aggrieved student while speaking at a news conference at Peshawar press club on Monday said after qualifying ETEA test with 68.84 aggregate , i was eligible to get admission in Bolan Medical College in Quetta. However, he alleged the administration officials of using delaying tactics and depriving him of admission.

He came hard on relevant officials and alleged that students of Peshawar domicile holders have been adjusted on seats of other areas including Khyber Agency which is an obvious violation of merit. The tribesman boldly said he has adequate evidences of admissions against merit were available with him who he will present on reasonable platform.

I approached the Peshawar High Court for getting justice after all other options and endeavors failed, he said and adding that the court directed vice-chancellor and deans of admission committee to resolve the issue within 14 days. Unfortunately, after two months of time, the administration of KMC did not solve the matter to help him getting admission which is contempt of court, he stated.

Mr Afridi raised fingers over provincial government and relevant departments for their alleged silence over key matters of varsity and saying an inquiry should be carried out in this particular issue to ascertain the irregularities. It is an injustice with him that despite being on merit list, the alleged officials have deprived him of admission, he regretted.
