Food Authority sealed ghee mill, charged food outlets

PESHAWAR: Teams of KP Food Authority deployed on the special directive of Director General Riaz Khan Mahsud, sealed a vegetable ghee mills and charged various food outlets and educational institutes rupees four lac and ten thousand here on Monday. In communiqué shared with media reads that Hayataabad industrial zone was raided and checked for food related items where sohail vegetable ghee mills was found in sever violation of KP food safety act 2014 and the team decided to completely seal the mill. Moreover, the team checked two other factories and issued warning notices to maintain cleanliness and food safety situation to avoid consequences in the next visit.

In Kohat under the supervision of Deputy Diroctor Kamran Yousafzai food authority team checked two ice-cream factories and imposed a fine of eighty thousand over violation of the safety standards set under the KP food Safety act 2014.

Abbottabad office also continues in full swing where improvement notices were served to eleven educational institutions while Canteen of jinnah international hospital Abbottabad and women medical college imposed were collectively charged rupees fifty thousand fine 25000 over selling expired items and unhygienic conditions.

Dera Ismail Khan team Inspected several Schools and Colleges in the morning. Held Meetings with Principals for introducing Food Safety Authority. The team also Issued improvement notice to The City School upon unhygienic condition.

The team led by Assistant Director Muhammad Asif met with Sohan Halwa Association. They were briefed about the authority, it’s role and responsibilities. They ensured their full support. The team also imposed fine of rupees 25 thousand on Gulshan Bakers over violating the law.

Assistant Director Rukhsar Ali also carried out operations in Mardan and visited Sweet and Bakery where they found unhygienic condition, substandard colors & flavors and loose Coconut having fungus hence fined twenty fine thousand. Similarly, Bannu Office recovered one lac fifty thousand rupees in terms of imposition of fine on different food handlers and restaurants.

Director General Riaz Khan Mahsud expressed his satisfaction over the activities being kicked off across all the seven divisional districts of the province. To him KP Food authority is to serve general public by safeguarding them from unsafe and unhygienic food. Mahsud further said that no stone will be left unturned for to kick out the food handlers compromising on public health and safety.
