Meta to restore Trump’s accounts

WASHINGTON (Reuters): Following a two-year suspension Meta Platforms announced on Wednesday that it will reinstate former US President Donald Trump s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks.

In a blog post, the social media company claimed to have installed additional guardrails to discourage repeat crimes.

Facebook and Instagram are important platforms for political financing and communication and Trump has said that he will run for president again in 2024.

He was able to access Twitter in November again and a few weeks later he claimed to be in contact with Meta about coming back.
