Mumtaz Zahra Baloch appointed as Foreign Office spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Friday appointed senior diplomat Mumtaz Zahra Baloch as Spokesperson for the Foreign Office.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch is serving as Additional Secretary (Asia and Pacific) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Saima Sayed was appointed as Deputy Spokesperson for the Foreign Office.

She is serving as Director General (Strategic Communication Division) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a notification for the appointment of Spokesperson and Deputy Spokesperson for the Foreign Office.

Earlier, it was reported that the names of three senior officers were being considered for the appointment of one of them as the spokesperson for the Foreign Office.

According to the official sources, the name of Mumtaz Baloch, Additional Foreign Secretary for Southeast Asia and Pacific, topped the list.

Mudassar Tipu, Additional Foreign Secretary for USA, and Kamran Mujahid, DG Disarmament, were also considered for the post.

The post of the spokesperson for the foreign office had been lying vacant since the appointment of Asim Iftikhar Ahmed as ambassador to France.
